Practice Info

INCH Architecture + Design is a dynamic, innovative, social enterprise architecture, design and research practice founded in 2012 in Glasgow. We work across a diverse range of fields with a focus on social and community enhancement. We strive to create architecture which benefits communities and increases peoples enjoyment of the built environment. We place an emphasis on inclusivity delivering high quality design for all.

Services

The fields we work in include:

- office and workspace design
- design for community organisations
- design of inclusive interior and exterior spaces
- best practice design for those with dementia and other cognitive impairments
- design for older people
- development of commercial space

We also provide consultancy and research into best practice, analysing why, what and how we build, and the impact of the act of construction.

Ethos

The INCH model, as a non-profit social enterprise, is to reinvest our profits. We use this reinvestment to support those at the start of the development journey via pro bono initial consultations, funding research into best practice, and engaging in education and skills development.

Fair Work First

INCH are committed to advancing the Fair Work First criteria, including the real Living Wage and effective voice conditions for our team.

Environmental Sustainability & Net Zero

We’ve launched our 2024 Net Zero Strategy as the first step towards becoming a net zero practice.

We recognise the importance of reducing our environmental impact, and the fact that, as an architecture practice working in the built environment, we have a responsibility to reduce the carbon emissions of not just our practice, but also the buildings we design. We’ve committed to ambitious targets through the SME Climate Hub, and in doing so have joined the United Nations Race to Zero campaign. We’ve also committed to The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 2030 Climate Challenge and Architects Declare.

Our strategy outlines our pathway to net zero - the targets we’ve set and the actions we intend to take to get there. We’ve a long way to go, and not much time to get there, so we’ve set goals for ourselves that are ambitious but tangible, and we’ll be reviewing and sharing our progress every year.
