The Croy Community Hub operate from a former NHS clinic in the heart of the village of Croy on the outskirts of Glasgow. They offer vital care and community services alongside being a social and recreational hub for the village. INCH were appointed to develop a proposal for the existing building that addresses the operational requirements of the hub.

The key drivers for this project were to create larger, more flexible accommodation, to create spaces for people to meet and to enhance the street frontage as a public building. The addition of the front extension addresses all these points whilst also refocusing the circulation of the building. The extension offers a social meeting space for the community creating informal social spaces alongside community services such as the credit union and pantry shop. Envisaged as a shop front to the street, the extension looks to engage with the wider community and create a new main entrance.

Internally, circulation has been addressed to be via social spaces rather than along tight, poorly lit corridors. The upper floor has been designed to maximise public space at street level and offer views out over the village. The lower level accommodates more of the ancillary spaces whilst offering a larger flexible space which opens out to the rear garden.
