Gatehouse Community Centre Association
We’ve been working closely with the Gatehouse Community Centre Association developing proposals for their new build community centre. The existing community centre not only serves the local population in Gatehouse of Fleet, but also the wider community between Castle Douglas and Newton Stewart. The Association offer a wide range of services and activities and are looking to expand on this and create a lasting space for the community to thrive.
The new building is proposed on a prominent site within the town next to the school and medical surgery forming a cluster of public buildings with a community focus. The proposed centre offers multiple new flexible community rooms to accommodate a range of activities, a new games hall designed to Sport Scotland standards and a bunkhouse to offer accommodation to visitors to the area. The building is designed to reflect the character of the neighbouring conservation area and create an active public frontage onto the street to encourage the community to engage with the building.
