Working with BRAG Enterprises we have developed proposals aiming to restore the existing Cowdenbeath Townhouse into a vibrant community hub with café facilities, offices, an exhibition area, and communal flexible space.
The building is a C-listed red stone building and is the only listed building on Cowdenbeath’s High Street. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, the building has most recently been used as municipal offices but currently lies empty.
Our proposals aim to re-establish the original spatial qualities and celebrate the existing building’s heritage through careful demolitions, new insertions, materiality, and colour. A new arrival sequence and internal alterations will allow for a more legible building inviting visitors into the spaces and once again returning the building to the local people.
