Parklea Heritage Hub

Refurbishment of existing derelict farmhouse into a new public building

Parklea Branching Out

Continuing our work with Parklea Branching Out, we have carried out a feasibility study that looks to integrate an existing farmhouse within the new community hub site.

The existing farmhouse, which has been derelict for several years, is at the new main visitor entrance to Parklea Branching Out. Our proposal reimagines the farmhouse as a new heritage centre, offering a new experience for visitors to learn about the rich history of the timber ponds and the local area.

Externally, the building is in need of repair and the proposal looks to use natural materials to upgrade the external fabric. Internally, the existing building is cramped and split into tight cellular spaces. Our proposal looks to completely strip out the internal walls, creating a large open exhibition space into which a new mezzanine-level structure is inserted.
