Oak Mall Civic Frontage
Creation of a new frontage to an existing civic space
Oak Mall Civic Frontage | Port Glasgow
Private
The proposals consist of new façade works to the existing mall and the creation of a new public entrance and arrival space that will act as a pivotal gathering space within the building.
The entrance works are in conjunction with wider landscape works, which will involve the demolition of part of the mall and the rework of the A78 to vastly improve and increase the surrounding public realm.
Our proposals follow a simple and robust strategy that responds to the existing building and wider evolving masterplan. Embracing the circular economy, reused building elements of the Hector McNeil House, including the Charles Anderson Mural, have been incorporated into the façade, reducing waste and embracing the local area’s heritage.
