Masterplan of community group site
Parklea Retail Hub | Port Glasgow
Parklea Branching Out
Alongside the Parklea Community Hub project, we have continued our work with Parklea Branching Out (PBO), to form a new site strategy framework. The new Community Hub has created a new main visitor entrance and focus towards the River Clyde and the wider landscape. The site strategy framework strengthens these connections and helps to enhance the user experience by creating a series of spaces which are functional, legible and accessible to all.
The newly formed ‘street’ to the south of the new community hub forms an improved route to the rest of PBO’s existing site, as well as directing visitors to the newly established workshop/display space in the refurbished greenhouses.
In addition, two supporting structures, a bike shelter and Changing Places Toilet have been installed which assists PBO in expanding and improving their service offer and the accessibility of the site. The bike shelter provides improved storage space which accommodates a diverse range of bikes to further promote inclusive cycling. The Changing Places Toilet allows PBO to provide a new site facility that broadens their accessibility offer to their clients and the local community.
Proposed pavilion structures will help to create landmarks within the site, giving visitors a visual marker of activity and creating further opportunities to utilise and enjoy the outdoor spaces.
